Hijra Bank started in January 2022 after Ethiopia allowed full Islamic banking. For many years, a large part of the Muslim population in Ethiopia didn’t have access to banking because there were no Sharia-compliant banks. Hijra Bank was launched to solve this problem and include everyone in the financial system.
